Every business promotes from within, right?

Well, they say they do, you just won’t find many that’ll show you the proof.

This is where this team in Manchester is slightly different. I met with their Head of Engineering last week, who’s on the lookout for 2 Software Engineers (ideally at a Mid-Senior level) – he’s highlighted a few reasons why you might want to join.

Out of a team of 18 Software Engineers:

  • All 4 of their Lead Engineers were promoted from within.
  • 7 achieved an AWS or Azure certification in the last couple of years.
  • A handful have pursued other exams/certs in areas they’re passionate about.
  • 4 Engineers in the team joined as an Apprentice, before progressing into their current roles.
  • Plenty have attended external tech conferences to learn about a particular topic.
  • Everyone has quarterly reviews, to discuss working towards individual goals and certifications.
  • Everyone gets access to free online courses and the time to actually take them.

You’ll find yourself in an environment that promotes Cloud-first development, leaning heavily on Azure, with a strong DevOps culture, using .NET Core, C#, Xamarin and the wider MS stack. The team are constantly looking at ways at modernising too, so you won’t fall behind the technical curve.

You’d be able to work remotely too, if you wanted. Most of the team tend to show their face in the office once every couple of months or so to catch up, but they offer a really flexible working schedule, because let’s face it, that should be normal.

Salary wise, I can see the role paying £40,000-£50,000 DOE, but the package also includes a MacBook Pro (or similar), 25 days holiday (plus BH), a whole host of smaller perks/discounts and access to professional mental health advice, just in case if you ever needed it.
